Trained, Certified & Insured is Best
Certifications & Continuing Education
My Professional Background
It has taken me two attempts to train and certify as a doula. Since doulas do not provide medical care, it is important to for parents to find a doula who has been trained by a reputable organization. I made a concerted effort to cross-train in order to get different perspectives and a healthy exposure to people who have personal integrity and value diversity. I abide by DONA’s Doula Scope of Practice as a Birth, Postpartum & Bereavement Doula. My professional biography reads like this:
- 2004- Trained as Birth Doula with Birth Works Int’land supported 3 births
- 2019-Trained as Postpartum Doula with Ann Grauer of DONA Int’l
- 2020-Certified as DONA Postpartum Doula
- 2020-Trained & Certified with as Crystal Sada (Active Birth Institute) as a Prenatal & Labor Doula
- 2022-Trained & Certified as a Bereavement Doula with Still Birth Day – A Pregnancy Loss
- 2023-Re-Certified with DONA Int’l, requiring Continuing Education
- 2024-Trained with Healthy Children Project& Certified with ALPP as Certified Lactation Counselor
what Makes Me Stand-Out
Self-Investment
In addition to continuing to take webinars, reading books on birth related topics, and watching evidenced-based webinars, I trained and certified as a Certified Lactation Counselor. The certification is enough for a person to enjoy a wonderful career supporting breastfeeding women through prenatal education, establishing healthy breastfeeding, and even weaning little ones by necessity or choice. Clients become very close and relationships last well into the 2nd or 3rd year of a baby’s life.
My CLC certification through ALPP means I promise to uphold the values of that organization and stay within the Scope of Practice for a CLC.
Choosing to advocate for exclusive breastfeeding is not a judgement on anyone who chooses formula, it is a reflection on how highly I value the health of both mother and baby. With this certification, I can also teach safe formula preparation, sterilization processes, and recommended bottle feeding style.
Any family who wants my support should receive the highest quality of care possible. I understand that while I may fall short, my investment in education and sensitivity are the best way to get there.

There is a misconception that a doula replaces or steps into rolls typically reserved for partners or beloved family. In practice, a trained doula who stays within her scope makes suggestions and supports needs in way that makes everyone’s effort shine!
