Planning for Baby - Delivery & Arrival Home

01.

Choose Birth Place

This decision is usually driven by insurance coverage and benefits. You still deserve the likelihood you could have c-section, the level of NICU care, and if those places are recognized as baby friendly place spaces.

02.

Make a Birth Plan

Ideally, this plan is created after you take a private childbirth education class, where a certified instructor as outlined expectations, interventions and options that you may encounter during your labor and delivery.

03.

Find Your Doula

Having a doula used to be a privilege for women choosing home or birth center births.  Today, families of all types, and especially women of color benefit from continuous support during labor in the hospital setting.

04.

Prepare for Postpartum

Preparation is a means toward easier transition – in this case, welcoming home a baby after vaginal or surgical birth understanding that hormones swing a lot and neither you nor your partner have to wash dishes, laundry or perform in a sleep deficit. Prepare!

How I can help make the transition easier?

One-on-One (or Two) Counseling

My clients receive support during the prenatal period from the moment we formally enter into agreement. You will have someone to talk with after appointments, if you are choosing products for you or your baby, and evidenced-based explanations of topics related to birth and recovery.

In-person Support During Labor

When you enter your birth space, unless you are at home, it is likely your partner will be the only person with you the entire time who knows you so well. When I enter that space with my clients, we will see nurses, doctors, and staff rotate shifts, but you can take comfort that your spouse can experience intimately, and I will be there for you throughtout.

Professional Support

As a professional doula, I am trained, certified, and insured to serve your family. I am a safe, trusted, and knowledgeable professional who cares for newborns and vulnerable families so they can experience their confidence and joy in the postpartum period.

Choose who will be in charge of your newborn with your mind and your heart.

Birth memories are strongly imprinted on us. Make choices today that, in the moment, as well as in reflection, make you feel your power.

About me

I’m a trained and certified Postpartum Labor Doula, and Bereavement Doula.

As a doula, I take pride in supporting my clients during pregnancy, birth & recovery by offering resources, and evidenced-based information.  It’s not uncommon to wonder about what to do with a newborn baby, we just don’t have lots of extended families around us.  We are all learning everyday, and I promise to make every effort to give the most current advice or solutions to your questions.

Ultimately, it’s possible to feel excitement and confidence despite not “knowing what to expect.” That’s my goal, that you and your partner feel like you may not know everything, but you feel ready to embrace labor, birth, and postpartum with confidence.

Happy Clients

I am fortunate to have many!

If you have had a baby, you can imagine how hard it is to ask parents for feedback or reviews.

Reviews on Google tell part of my story.

Many of my clients do send lovely, heartwarming notes, so I have shared some of those!

Dear Judy,
Sending a note of thanks...for the amazing support, guidance, and friendship over the past couple of months. We couldn't be more grateful that we found you and the timing aligned for us to work together.
You made H----'s birth an even more special experience - one where both Adam and I felt empowered, and one that was a true team effort....
Look forward to keeping in touch as H--- grows up...and potentially for #2!!?... Love, S., A., & H.
